Founded with the understanding that loss control surveys provide a central role in the risk management process and that the number one challenge for loss control companies servicing the commercial insurance industry in that regard is finding enough qualified field consultants to conduct the thousands of inspections requested daily, The Virtual Insurance Inspection Training Institute (VIITA) was conceived to fill the void.

Developed by the management of Technical Insurance Services, a highly respected national loss control company, delivering more than twenty-five thousand loss controls surveys annually, since 1983, VIITA offers a cost-effective online career opportunity for both individuals new to the insurance industry and those looking to improve their skills, without sacrificing time away from home and lost earnings in the process.

With a career history which included many years as a clinical bacteriologist & photojournalist, I have spent the past 25 years as a loss control management specialist for the commercial property & casualty insurance industry, first as a DEVCO-certified independent inspector, working for a fledgling insurance inspection company and more recently as a managing principal of a nationwide loss control and inspection company, with a good portion of my time spent developing commercial loss control inspection guidelines for insurance companies, conducting loss control underwriting seminars, and training loss control engineers. I am also a past president of the Associated Reporting Companies (ARCO), an association of more than forty regional & national fee-based inspection companies.

Joanne WassermanJoanne Wasserman Brinkerhoff, CPCU, Vice-President
I started my career in private school education and then spent 25 years in the corporate insurance world where I was involved in underwriting, marketing, client relations and staff management. In 1986 I obtained a CPCU designation from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters. In 2005 I became a managing principal in Technical Insurance Services, a national loss control and inspection company. I am excited to bring all of this educational, technical and management experience to VIITA to help people realize the wonderful career potential and financial freedom there is in becoming an independent loss control inspector.
